EPISODE 4: The Introvert’s guide to energy-led marketing

[00:00:00] Before we start, I would love to invite you to a new 10 day guided experience I’m creating called Message Lab.

Now, if you’re listening to this live, there’s still time to join us. We start this Monday, the 2nd of June. And it’s really a space for you to create that soul aligned message that does the talking for you.

This is for you if your message feels a bit off, or you just feel like you’re attracting the wrong kind of people, or whenever you sit down to create content, it just feels really hard. Inside we’ll experiment, refine, and help you get to a message that only you can say using your unique blend of experience, expertise, and the way you do things in your field.

So think intimate group of like-minded business people, voice notes, reflections, aha moments, and experimenting with different ways to say things we don’t normally give ourselves a space to actually step back and think about how we want to come across in the world. (It’s now on demand/self paced)

Or you might have done it a few years ago, but it might not fit because you know, we evolve. So I’m creating a space to give you that time really and get you to that soul level. Yep. This is it. Messaging so that you show up with excitement and enthusiasm to share your content, but also the clients that are gonna be a joy to work with.

Think. Yep. She’s the one that I want. So if that sounds good to you, please check out the information.

Welcome to today’s episode of Quiet Confidence, which is all about energy management in your marketing. Now, I can’t create a podcast for introverts without talking about energy management, right?

So you’re probably trying to build a personal brand like an extrovert when you aren’t one, and today we’re gonna flip that script.

If you want to stop with that marketing, that feels like you’re selling your soul to the algorithms or you are constantly glued to your phone or it feels like you’ve got a massive spotlight on you and you’ve gotta do some sort of performance.

Today’s strategy is gonna help you become more rooted, be more resonant with your audience, and just showcase the real you.

I’m [00:02:00] gonna be talking about recharge cushions. It’s more about building a business around your nervous system, not against it.

They’re what I call the intentional breathing spaces you can build in before and after something that you know is gonna take loads of energy.

And I think the word cushion just sounds really nice and cozy and inviting.

Now, to me, they’re not a luxury. They’re actually part of my strategy and I think they should be part of yours too.

I know it might feel like an indulgence to take five minutes for yourself, but for us introverts, it’s these small buffers that protect our energy throughout the day and help you avoid that massive crash at the end.

So to give you an example, here’s how I add them into my own business.

Before client calls, I might take five to 10 minutes to take a deep breath, sit down, review the notes, have a cup of tea, just move around a bit so that I’m ready and fully present for my clients.

Often, if I’m going to networking event, I might take an hour after just to chill. Or if it’s in town, I’ll just walk around the center for a bit.

If it is a full day, I might even take the morning after off client facing calls, just so I’ve got a bit of silence and a bit of regrouping and a bit of me time before I need to get back into work.

I guess I want you to think of these recharge cushions as being part of your calendar. I know it feels like, oh my God, I should be doing something. I’ve got five minutes. Let me just fit this in there. Let me just fit that in there, but just take the space even if it’s for a week and see what happens.

So how can we bake this into being visible as your personal brand?

I think your marketing should be energy led as well.

So I’m gonna share three ways that you can build your personal brand in a way that protects your energy as well.

The first thing is that you don’t need to be everywhere. You just need to be in the right places.

Now by the right places, I mean the places where your ideal clients hang out, but also the places that you like to hang out too, because there’s nothing worse than forcing yourself to show up in places where you’re just like, oh my God, I hate this vibe. This is not for me.

I mean, the energy is felt. You know when you’re forced to be somewhere that you’re not, you’re just gonna have a face, like a slapped arse, right? And that’s not the [00:04:00] vibe we’re going for.

Because if you feel like that, you’re gonna slowly stop showing up and that’s not gonna help your personal brand because you need to be consistently visible.

So choose a place that you actually like to be and curate your feed so that you’re following people who give you good vibes only.

And then I would encourage you to show up in one place where you can showcase long form content and one place you can showcase your short form content.

So by long form, I mean somewhere that you can house a library of your work. So think your blog, a podcast, or even a YouTube channel – somewhere that people can go and binge all of your content.

And then your short form would be things like social media stories, emails, things like that. And if you wanna go a level deeper, you can chop up your long form pieces of content to create your short form bits as well.

I dunno if that sounds confusing, that’s another episode for another day. But for now, just keep it simple.

Choose two places, one place where you can showcase your evergreen library of work and another place where you can keep showing up in a short form way consistently.

The second thing would be to create in your high energy moments.

Now, I’ve said this a few times, but I want you to batch when your body’s like, hell yeah, this is the time I’m feeling really creative.

Use those peaks in your energy to batch create. ’cause that’s when you’re gonna be in flow and that’s when your words are gonna flow. That’s when you’re gonna feel like, hell yeah, this is amazing. I’m amazing. And when you are in that energy, why would you just create one thing?

Let’s just create loads of things, so you’ve got a bank of content for the moments when you’re just like, I dunno what to say. Or, you know, when life’s lifeing.

Remember the goal isn’t for us to post daily. It’s for us to create when our nervous system’s like, yep, I’m on. So let’s take advantage of that.

The third thing would be to post at a frequency that makes sense for you.

It doesn’t matter what other people say. What matters is that you’re building trust, and trust is through building a rhythm.

So whether you post weekly, biweekly, monthly, choose the frequency that serves you and you can always start small. And then once you get comfortable with that, you can show up more.

You’re gonna be far more effective showing up consistently [00:06:00] over a long period of time rather than sporadically showing up like every day, one week, and then falling off the face of the earth for the other three.

And I’ll give you a fourth one, which is just to own your message and try and end the whole second guessing, because that overthinking is the silent energy leaks that we don’t really think of.

Because when you’re unclear on what you stand for or who you’re talking to, or what you’re trying to promote and things like that, you’re gonna be staring at the blank page and writing the post like 12 times, tweaking the colors in Canva, or looking for that perfect image and you’re just gonna be faffing around and not hitting publish.

But when you are really clear on your messaging, who you stand for, you’ll write your post once and post it, and then that’s done. And this clarity obviously saves energy ’cause you’re not second guessing yourself.

And I’m obviously gonna be hosting Message Lab from Monday to help you with this. So. If you think your messaging needs a bit more clarity, please do have a look at that link.

So I guess the message I want to leave you with is that you don’t need to be on all the time and that you can build a personal brand that honors your energy and doesn’t work against it.

This week to have a look at your calendar and think, where can I add in some recharge cushions?

Start small. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, it all matters. And all of the little bits add up. And I guess the magic isn’t really in how many of these you can add into your calendar.

It’s more about making them a non-negotiable and having that self-discipline to say no when a client says, have you got any time to fit me in?

The more you bake these into your day, the more you’re gonna be able to create a marketing strategy that feels more sustainable, and you’ll be able to stay visible for a longer period of time without that energy drain, with more clarity, creativity, and that quiet confidence that’s inside you.

So I hope today’s episode helps. If it shifted anything within you, I would love to hear what that was. Send me a DM on Instagram or share it and tag me in your Instagram stories.
